As anticipated, Poco has officially launched the Poco M6 Pro, a new smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC. Available in two memory variants, 4GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB, the device also comes equipped with a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 1TB and operates with an Android 13-based MIUI 14 right out of the box. Poco has committed to two significant Android version upgrades and three years of security updates, with the frequency of updates remaining unspecified.
Constructed around a 6.79″ 90Hz FullHD+ LCD, the Poco M6 Pro boasts a display offering 550 nits peak brightness and a 240Hz touch sampling rate, with an undisclosed version of Gorilla Glass for protection. It features an 8MP front camera nicely fitted into a centered punch hole. On the rear, the phone sports a glass cover accommodating two cameras – a 50MP primary and a 2MP depth sensor. Powering all of this is a 5,000 mAh battery which can be charged via the USB-C port at a maximum of 18W, even though the package includes a 22.5W adapter.
Another key highlight includes 5G capability, supplemented by additional features such as an IR Blaster, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and an IP53 rating.
The Poco M6 Pro mirrors the recently launched Redmi 12 5G in India in many ways, barring a few differences, such as a unique back cover design. However, no software promises have been made for the Redmi 12 5G by Xiaomi at this point in time. The Poco M6 Pro will go on sale in India from August 9 and will be available exclusively on Flipkart in two colors, Power Black and Forest Green. The 4GB/64GB model will be priced at INR10,999 ($135/€120) and the 6GB/128GB variant at INR12,999 ($160/€140). Customers who purchase the smartphone using an ICICI Bank credit/debit card can avail of an INR1,000 ($12/€11) instant discount. Meanwhile, the Redmi 12 5G is available in three memory variants: 4GB/128GB, 6GB/128GB, and 8GB/256GB, priced at INR11,999 ($145/€130), INR13,499 ($165/€150), and INR15,499 ($190/€170), respectively.
