Pixel’s Iconic “At a Glance” Widget Set to Grace Non-Pixel Android Phones Soon

An upgrade of one of the most distinct features from the Pixel lineup is seemingly making its way to other Android smartphones. Renowned for providing users with a plethora of information, the At a Glance widget offers Pixel users instant access to crucial updates such as current weather conditions, weather alerts, rideshare progress, and even a view of who’s at the door through a doorbell camera. The latest iteration of the At a Glance widget made its impressive debut on the Pixel 6 series.

While non-Pixel Android smartphones have been graced with the widget called Assistant at a Glance, these only offered limited information to users. However, Google has dedicated much effort to make the updated At a Glance feature available to more Android phones apart from Pixel devices.

A recent post on X by @AssembleDebug, coupled with a comment from Mishaal Rahman, reveals a video showcasing the newfound functionality of the At a Glance widget on non-Pixel Android phones. In these non-Pixel models, a distinctive “pill” design accommodates the data, consuming only two lines of your home screen. Moreover, users will have the liberty to select a transparent background, with a smooth transition between Dark mode and Light mode automatically synced with your system settings.

Although the availability of the updated Assistant at a Glance remains unconfirmed, the video indicates that the feature is more than ready for prime time. Consequently, Google may release this update at any moment, potentially even before the launch of Android 14 this month. The revamped Assistant at a Glance widget is slated to take its place among other Google apps on Android phones.

Surprisingly, the At a Glance widget hasn’t won over every Pixel user. Google doesn’t facilitate the removal of the feature on Pixel handsets. However, some relief can be sought by installing a third-party launcher from the Play Store, potentially enabling you to eliminate the widget from your device.

In conclusion, non-Pixel Android phone users can eagerly anticipate the arrival of the advanced At a Glance widget, which promises to revolutionize the accessibility of essential information, taking the Android experience to unprecedented new heights.
