Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 and Fold5 Achieve Groundbreaking Pre-Orders in Korea

Samsung’s latest folding smartphones, the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5, have achieved record-breaking pre-order numbers in South Korea since their launch on August 1. The demand for these innovative devices has skyrocketed, surpassing 1 million combined pre-orders, outdoing the prior record of 970,000 set by the 2022 foldable lineup.

The Galaxy Z Flip5 has garnered more interest than the Fold5, accumulating about 70% of the 1.02 million total pre-orders. This marks an increase from last year when the Galaxy Z Flip4 held roughly 60% of pre-orders. The Flip5 pre-orders reached an impressive 714,000, whereas the Fold5 obtained over 306,000 units, with time remaining before the pre-order period concludes.

Contrastingly, the Galaxy Z Fold5 experienced less consumer enthusiasm in the domestic market compared to its forerunner, the Fold4, which secured 388,000 pre-orders. The modest update to the latest model paired with the Fold4’s robust durability may have discouraged numerous existing users from upgrading, despite Samsung’s attractive trade-in incentives.

The Galaxy Z Flip5’s popularity is understandable, as the device boasts an enhanced cover screen that is much more user-friendly than previous models. The Flip5 significantly improves navigation and the selfie-taking experience when the device is folded.

Our comprehensive review of the Samsung Galaxy Flip5 is available for readers interested in the device, while the Fold5’s detailed testing is in progress. In the meantime, check out our initial impressions and hands-on experience with these groundbreaking foldable smartphones.
